I Quit My Corporate Job in NYC to Travel the World
Hello, my name is Kesi! I am an Ivy Grad (Wharton, #UPennUKnow), and in 2015 I decided to quit my finance job in NYC to travel the world. I did not impulsively quit but planned and saved money for two years, with the idea of following the summer (your girl loves bikinis!) for a year. Somehow my 1-year career break turned into 6 years and counting. I’ve adapted to a nomadic lifestyle and have no plans to stop. I have learned the ins and outs of sustaining long-term travel and would love to inspire others to take a career break – whether it’s for 3 months, 1 year, or a fully nomadic lifestyle.
I am still traveling because I’m addicted to meeting new people and immersing myself in the local culture. Traveling taught me to be open-minded and showed how humans from all walks of life could be highly giving.

How I Became a Full-Time Traveller
It is crazy to think that I have been full-time traveling longer than I’ve ever had a full-time job?! The saying “Time flies when you are having fun” is entirely accurate. I never had the intention of becoming a full-time traveler, but I adapted to a backpacker lifestyle.
I supported myself for 5+ years by:- Gaining seasonal work as a host/chef for The Yacht Week and The Bucketlust.
- Finding side hustles, like Grabr, to make money while traveling.
- Learning how to budget and save money while traveling.
- Sacrificing luxury items, to be wealthy in experiences.
